Every plate of posho, beans, greens and groundnuts served to our children begins long before it reaches the cooking pot. It starts in the gardens, markets and stores of Kamuli District, with faithful partners who care.
EVCM Uganda uses a mix of ministry-owned farms, partner farmers, church gardens, local markets and food donors to ensure reliable, nutritious meals for more than 1,200 children every single day.
Below you can see the main sources that keep our feeding centers running and our children smiling.
Food comes from several reliable streams so that no child sleeps hungry, even when harvests are low or prices rise.
Our main community farm in Kamuli is the heart of the feeding program. Here we grow maize, beans, groundnuts and greens that directly supply the five feeding centres.
Volunteers, youth and widows work side by side in the gardens. This not only reduces costs, but also builds skills and ownership among the very families we serve.
When harvests are abundant, we buy maize, beans and cassava directly from trusted Christian farmers in nearby villages. This keeps money in the community and rewards good farming.
Many of these farmers are parents and guardians of the children we feed, creating a beautiful cycle of support and dignity.
Each of our 15 churches maintains small kitchen gardens where vegetables like sukuma wiki, cabbages and tomatoes are grown to enrich the children’s plates.
Sunday school children help water and weed these gardens, learning stewardship of God’s creation and basic agriculture at the same time.
Friends of EVCM Uganda from within Uganda and abroad periodically donate food items or funds for bulk purchases, especially in times of drought or price spikes.
These gifts help us bridge gaps and ensure that no feeding centre closes its doors because of lack of food.
Once harvested or purchased, food is dried, cleaned and stored in secure stores to prevent spoilage and loss. Careful records are kept for every sack that enters and leaves.
Good stewardship means every gift of maize, beans or money is maximized to fill as many plates as possible.
You can sponsor a monthly maize purchase, donate food, or help expand our community farms. Together we can make sure every child has a full plate and a hopeful future.
